Volkswagen’s compact and refined family saloon – the Volkswagen Jetta – has undergone a complete restyling. As with all Volkswagens, efficiency and style are the watchwords of this urbane and attractive car.

The vehicle’s practicality and spaciousness (it offers 510 litres of room for storage with the rear seats upright, and an even greater amount when they are folded over) certainly does not count against its performance. Volkswagen designers have come up with numerous ways in which they can give the car a more aerodynamic shape, including ultra-narrow body panel gaps, flush-fitting windows and headlights, and modified door mirrors and underbody panels.

The resulting reduction in drag lends the Jetta extra performance and stability. Also, the excellent design of the bodywork also enhances the safety of the Jetta’s occupants. The strong and rigid bodywork, which has been made tougher by the most advanced in laser welding techniques, contributes to the Jetta’s five-star safety rating from the NCAP.

Other user-friendly features include heated door mirrors and dimming interior mirrors that reduce the glare of headlights from following cars. One particularly interesting innovation is the heat-insulating tinted glass, which makes the car cooler on hot days.
