DRIVING MODES

Discover the experience of driving in both worlds: electric and petrol. PEUGEOT plug-in hybrid cars come with up to four exclusive driving modes* to provide you with complete satisfaction.

Energy recovery when braking and decelerating is available for all driving modes**.

ELECTRIC mode

This is the “default” mode for PEUGEOT plug-in hybrid cars*. Benefit from ELECTRIC mode to drive using 100% electric power. Enjoy all the advantages of an electric car, such as quiet driving**, and environmentally friendly operation with no CO2 emissions.

*Full-electric driving is available in all these modes, depending on the battery's charge level and type of driving.

HYBRID mode

The HYBRID mode allows you to drive in either electric mode or petrol mode based on the driving style you adopt and the type of road you take. By choosing this driving mode, you allow the vehicle maximum freedom to select which driving mode is used. Use this driving mode to enjoy the advantages of both the electric and petrol engines, such as optimising electric power use.

SPORT mode

Take full advantage of the engine torque provided by plug-in hybrid cars. SPORT mode allows you to combine the power of both engines to get the most out of your plug-in hybrid car. The PEUGEOT 3008 SUV HYBRID4 can reach a maximum combined power of 300 hp.

COMFORT mode

This mode pairs the HYBRID mode with the active suspension* for increased comfort.
The active suspension provides a better grip on the road for excellent traction, all while continuing to provide optimal comfort.

*Only available with the variable damping (AMVAR). Standard, optional, or not available depending on the version

PLUG-IN HYBRID TECHNOLOGY


REGENERATIVE BRAKING

Recover energy in PEUGEOT plug-in hybrid cars while braking and decelerating with the engine braking system. Thanks to regenerative braking, your hybrid car's battery will be partially recharged and your vehicle's range increased.

C02 EMISSIONS

The plug-in hybrid's engine reduces CO2 emissions to a level of 36 g/km^(WLTP). In 100% electric mode, no CO2is emitted while driving.

FUEL CONSUMPTION

The plug-in hybrid engine reduces overall fuel consumption, saving 40% in comparison with the combustion version. Average consumption is up to 235 mpg WLTP^.

HOW TO RECHARGE YOUR HYBRID CAR?

PEUGEOT plug-in hybrid vehicles have been designed for easy and practical recharging. The charging flap is located on the vehicle’s left rear left wing*. Once your car is charged, you can store your charging cable in a place specifically set aside under the floor of the boot.

When charging your plug-in hybrid vehicle, a series of coloured lights will indicate the charging progress. Vehicle charge time will depend on the maximum power available from the electricity source, capped at the power of the On Board Charger** if this is lower.

 To have full all-electric driving capacity, PEUGEOT plug-in hybrid vehicles offer you various charging solutions.

PRIVATE CHARGING

Recharge your plug-in hybrid car at home or at your workplace.

  • You will need to buy an accessory cable if you wish to charge from a domestic socket, as we do not recommend this as a daily charging solution.
    • 0-100%: 5 hours charge time at 2.3kW on a domestic socket (known as Mode 2 charging)


  • Charging from a Type 2 (Mode 3) dedicated electric vehicle charging point is the recommended way to charge your vehicle on a daily basis. This cable is provided as standard with the vehicle.
    • 0-100%: less than 4 hours charge time @ 3.7kW with the standard on board charger
    • 0-100%: less than 2 hours charge time @ 7.4kW with the optional upgrade on board charger

PUBLIC CHARGING STATIONS

The majority of public charging points in the UK are Type 2 sockets, which will charge your vehicle at the accelerated charge times listed, depending on the power of the charging point and your on board charger.

ECODRIVING TIPS TO ADOPT

DRIVE SMOOTHLY

To avoid increased energy consumption, tailor your driving to avoid jerking, as well as frequent and rapid acceleration and braking.
On motorways, reduce your speed to a minimum since high speeds quickly reduce the range of your hybrid vehicle.​

USE THE BRAKE MODE

Instead of continuously using the brake pedal, use the engine braking system, which generates energy and charges the battery when braking and decelerating.​

USE PRE-CONDITIONING


While your vehicle is charging, take advantage of pre-conditioning to limit the energy used by the heating or cooling systems when you begin driving. Heating or cooling the car while charging doesn’t reduce its range.​

MAINTAINING THE TYRES


It is essential to look after your tyres regardless of your car’s engine type. Plug-in hybrid cars reduce energy consumption, but unsuitable or poorly inflated tyres greatly increase it.

Plug-in hybrid car or electric car: which to choose?

It really comes down to what best suits your needs and driving habits, as well as your access to charging.

If you're used to driving long distances on a regular basis, a hybrid vehicle is likely the best choice as you can cover long distances in the hybrid mode, without needing to stop to recharge, as you might need to in an electric vehicle.

How does a plug-in hybrid car work?

PEUGEOT plug-in hybrid cars combine the advantages of a petrol engine car and an electric car within the same vehicle.

A hybrid car uses two power sources: a petrol engine, and one or two electric motors with a battery and external charging port. The difference between a full hybrid car and a plug-in hybrid car is that the latter has to be plugged in to recharge the battery, but has an official electric or ‘zero emission’ range figure. Plug-in hybrids can also travel significantly further in electric mode that full hybrids and the electric mode can be driver selected – so you can adapt your driving mode based on the type of road you take.

Do plug-in hybrid vehicles emit less CO2 than vehicles with petrol engines?

Thanks to its battery, a plug-in hybrid car can drive up to 39 miles^ in electric mode, with no CO2 exhaust emissions. In order to optimise CO2 emissions, choose driving in 100% electric mode for daily urban driving. This means you’ll need to charge your hybrid vehicle’s battery regularly in order to use the electric motor.

By using certain ecodriving techniques during trips in HYBRID mode, you can optimise the driving range of your car in electric mode and thus reduce CO2 emissions.
